Instructor Spotlight!

We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County, and I thought it would be nice if we could get to know a little more about each one of them. I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Kristy Morales!

I remember when Kristy first started attending classes in Downtown Silver Spring (wah...I miss teaching down that way!) years ago. Thankfully, she decided to join us as a monthly member, and then she started coming All. The. Time. She became a regular in class, worked hard & socialized hard, and when I was in the process of buying this business I knew I needed her to be on my team! Kristy has a sense of humor that is impossible to resist. Just try, but you won't be able to leave her class without smiling and laughing a LOT. Kristy teaches Stroller Strides, but she's also an amazing running coach. Haven't tried one of her classes? I recommend you do! You can find her in Silver Spring, at RIO for Running Moms' Club, and on the Saturday Stroller Strides schedule now and then when run club isn't in session.

Read on to get to know more about Kristy and her time with FIT4MOMMOCO...

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband, Jose and my children, Charlie- 5 and Amelia- almost 2.

2. Where do you typically teach?

Silver Spring

3. Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor for FIT4MOM Montgomery County.

It must have been fate. The Wednesday before the weekend training I went to class at Rio (not a class I attend often) and Heather told me about the training and off I went! Though my training came up quickly, becoming an instructor is something I'd thought about a lot. I always loved how all the Stroller Strides instructors were so great giving us moms a fantastic workout and keeping us motivated. I wanted to do the same!

4. What is your favorite thing to teach?

I LOVE lower body and especially squats! (If you've ever attended one of my classes you're probably very aware of that )

5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?

Getting to know all the moms and their kiddos! I was recently commenting on how I love to watch everyone's kiddos grow. It's so fun to see all the babies start to smile and hear all the funny things the toddlers start saying.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

My kiddos. I love that they see me not just having fun exercising myself, but helping to motivate other moms to do the same.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I was not a "runner" until after I had Amelia. I'd tried for many years to get motivated to run and would never stick with it. That's why as a run club coach now when someone tries to tell me' "I'm not a runner" I tell them, WRONG! Everyone's a runner, it just takes some of us a longer time to realize it :)

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Don't let anything stop you from coming to class. If you're kid free for the day, if you've had not the best morning, if you've had not the best night, come join us! Don't miss out on YOUR hour. We are all moms and we get it. Trust me, you'll feel better after. I know I always do!

Kristy, thank you for being such a dedicated member of this team! I appreciate you, and so happy you're part of this village!

Check back next month for our next spotlight!
