March 2017 MOM- Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for March! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Beth Hoffman!

"Beth is in class consistently, whether she has Austin with her or not, and when she's there she WORKS! She's always enthusiastic and welcoming to other moms, and she's so much fun to have in class! " ~Instructor & Franchise Owner Heather

We asked Beth a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

1. Who are the members of your family?

My family includes my husband Cory (March 10th is our 10 year wedding anniversary), Bella (9 years old) and Austin (2 years old).

2. What is/was your career?

I've always been a stay at home mom and have loved every single minute! I met my husband while he was active duty in the US Air Force when I was 20 in my junior year at Binghamton Univ. I travelled with him to Alaska and 9 months later we were engaged! Marriage and a baby meant putting graduating college on hold. When I was 30 and pregnant with my son I finally graduated with a Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management. I look forward to starting my career one day!

3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Montgomery County, and what has it done for you?

I joined a little over a year ago when my friend (thank you Katie!!) asked if I wanted to join her at a stroller strides class!!! I fell in love instantly! Fit4mom has given me a love and appreciation for working out that I didn't have before. I look forward to stroller strides mornings because not only am I getting a great workout but I get to hang out with the fabulous moms I met! Before stroller strides I didn't have a desire to workout and now I get sad the days I can't make it there! Fit4mom has been the most positive experience and I can honestly say that this last year has been my favorite year as a SAHM! If only I had stroller strides when Bella was little!

4. What is your favorite class exercise?

That's a tough one but I would say burpees for cardio and bicep exercises with resistance bands.

5. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

No matter how much you think you may know as a mother, something new will happen! Bella is 9 and I'm constantly being challenged! With every year that passes it gets harder and more challenging in different ways!! Half the time I have no idea if I'm doing it right but I'm doing the best I can!!

6. List 3 of your favorite things:

Coffee, nap time, and date night!

7. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

That's a really hard question as there have been so many proud moments over the years. I would say most recently my favorite moment was when Austin's Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist praised me at the end of a session. They told me that I have been doing a wonderful job working with Austin and being consistent! Anyone with a delayed child (Austin is delayed in everything) knows how draining it can be. I have to remind myself that I'm doing everything I can for him and when I feel down on myself or like I should be doing more I remember their kind words and praises!

8. Any advice for other moms out there?

Make sure you don't forget that before babies it was you and your spouse! You have to nurture your marriage! My husband and I make time for each other and schedule regular date nights! Making time for US makes me a better mother!

Also don't sweat the small stuff! When Bella was little I was definitely more anxious and let every little thing get to me! I'm so much happier now that I can laugh at something that can easily make you cry (like spilling an entire gallon of milk on your freshly cleaned floors!) Kids are only little once, embrace it!
