We are excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for November! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Jen Fiorentino.
Instructor Ashley says, "Jen has shown such dedication to Stroller Strides for years now. I remember meeting her way back when we were having Saturday classes at Ken-Gar Park. Isabelle was just a little baby and she was working full-time back then but would still always make it out to Saturday classes. Now that she has both Isabelle and Charlie and is at home with them she's a regular and is at class several times a week!"
We asked Jen a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My awesome family includes Rob (my husband), Isabelle (2 1/2 years old), Charlie (12 months old), and our two cats (Chewbacca and Ace).
2. What is/was your career?
I am an attorney, but currently a stay-at-home mom. I left my full time job outside the home after Charlie was born.
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Montgomery County, and what has it done for you?
I first started classes when I was on maternity leave with Isabelle (2 years ago) and loved it. After I returned to work, I attended classes on weekends or holidays when possible. After Charlie was born, I have attended regularly over the last ten months. I love the program because it is a real workout with a fabulous, strong, supportive community of other moms. I am physically stronger than I have ever been before, which is empowering as a mom. It is awesome for my kids too to play with friends after class.
4. What is your favorite strides exercise?
... all things cardio!
5.. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
I knew that I would love my kids deeply, which I do, but motherhood has also brought a sense of fullness to my life that I did not expect. I feel very happy and lucky to be their mom and that I am right where I am supposed to be with them.
6. List 3 of your favorite things:
1) watching my kids laugh together, 2) date nights with my husband, 3) beach vacations with friends or family or both!
7. What your proudest mommy moment so far?
Watching Isabelle conquer things she was weary of in the beginning and seeing her grow stronger with each new step, such as potty training, preschool, being sweet to her brother (still a work in progress!).
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
It gets easier! When my kids were newborns, I loved hearing that and it really does. Lastly, sleep makes everything better.
Thank you, Jen, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! Check back to see who our MOM will be next month!
