We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Mary Maiberger.
Mary was one of our founding members of Body Back in January 2014, and she's been going strong ever since! She's already completed (almost) 4 sessions of Body Back, and she and her daughters come to Stroller Strides anytime they can. She truly is an inspiration to me and to other moms - she is always optimistic, wearing a smile and is certainly a positive role model of how to live a healthy lifestyle! ~Heather
We asked Mary a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
Patrick, my husband; Madeline, my 5 year old daughter, and Katherine, my 2 year old daughter.
2. What is/was your career?
Besides being a mom, I am a dermatologist, a job I love! It allows me to help patients of all ages with sun safety, skin cancers, and rashes.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Montgomery County, and what has it done for you?
I have been a member of FIT4MOM nearly a year. I wish I had discovered it sooner! I was tired of gym workouts and after my second daughter, Katherine, was born, I wanted to find a way to work out with them. Stroller strides has been a wonderful addition to our lives, allowing me to become fitter and stronger as well as socialize with other moms and kids. Body Back, which I started in January, has also been a life-changing experience. I have so much more energy and self-awareness, and I look forward to these evenings with the other Body Back moms and instructors, Heather and Dana, who are incredibly encouraging and motivating.
4. What is your favorite strides exercise?
I like curtsy lunges! Nothing gets me as sore the next day!
5. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
The incredible love you feel instantly when you hold your baby for the first time. It is unlike any other feeling.
6. List 3 of your favorite things:
- Family dinners with everyone there, including extended family
- Reading books for pleasure or with the kids
- Walks in the fall with the family and dog.
7. What your proudest mommy moment so far?
Probably when my older daughter, Madeline, for mother's day, made a family picture and had everyone else contribute a portion. She wrote a very sweet note that made my year! I love when my daughters draw pictures for me or each other; it really is the best gift!
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
Work as a team with your significant other, since parenting can be exhausting and hard at times in between the rewarding moments!
Thank you, Mary, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you!
Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
