April 2020 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for April! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Katie Forbes!

I love seeing Katie’s sweaty selfies in our virtual workout group! She is clearly still committed to making exercise a priority. Katie has been an active member for about 2 years doing ALL the things (Stroller classes, Body Back Transformation, Run Club)! She’s a superstar! ~ Instructor Claire

I have loved getting to know Katie over the last two years! She remains dedicated to her Fit4Mom workouts even though she has a demanding job as a nurse. She’s such an amazing mother, friend, and calming influence to all who meet her. Fit4Mom is so fortunate to have her in our village. ~ Instructor Courtland

Amazing mama , great workout buddy, friendly , nice, dedicated and fun. I love how Katie always says thank you after every single workout. She keeps going strong and continues her workout routine virtually. Miss you my dear , hope to see you soon 🤗! ~ Instructor Ewa

We asked Katie a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My husband Alex, our daughter Charlotte (2 ½), our two dogs Lucy and Mac, and I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with our baby boy.

What is/was your career?

I am a nurse. I work part time both at Children’s National Dermatology clinic and the Adult Emergency Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My very first class was a SS class at Ellsworth Place. Kristy was the teacher and she was so welcoming and encouraging. I was 3 months postpartum and really needed a routine that didn’t involve going to Target every day. A few months later I did my first Body Back Transformation and have been a regular ever since.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

You can find us at Pike and Rose when the weather is nice. We also go to Montgomery Mall on Tuesdays and Crossfit Hardshells on Thursdays.

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I love running the stairs, as you get a lot of bang for your buck, though it is getting harder the bigger I get! I also love bridges and the butt burn that comes with them.

What has being a mom taught you?

That I know nothing! HA! Being a mom is the hardest and most wonderful job that exists.

List 3 of your favorite things.

Weekends with my family, a hot bath with a glass of red wine, and lunch out!

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

The first time we flew to visit my parents in Texas, Charlotte was only a couple of months old. Half way through the three hour flight she had a massive blowout. We had to walk her to the bathroom and change her diaper and clothes in the very small bathroom. I am sure several people around us wished they had picked different seats.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Find the mamas who support and encourage you. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and hug and kiss your family as much as possible.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

Just do it! Fit4Mom and weekly exercise are the single best thing I did for myself after Charlotte was born. I was exhausted, out of shape, and really felt like I had lost myself. Joining other mamas every week, celebrating the joys and encouraging each other through the challenges all while watching these babies grow is a highlight of my week. I am so thankful for Fit4Mom and this village.

Thank you, Katie for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in May!
