We are excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for April! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Amy Holcomb.
Instructor Ewa says, "She was part of stroller strides with her older kids, and when she had another baby she came back. Every day she gives everything she has. She really pushes herself. I love to see her at my classes. She brightens the "room" with her smile. She is very friendly and won't hesitate to help if needed (Well, all SS moms are like that!). She is never late for a class, and she jumps right into each workout. I'll definitely miss seeing her at my classes when she goes back to work, but hopefully she will be coming from time to time. I'm not sure, but I don't think she missed a single class at LF this winter! It was great having her back even for such a short period of time."
We asked Amy a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband, Rick, and I have three kids - Abigail (5), Jonathan (4) and Heather (4.5 months). We also have a cat (Bella) and our newest addition is a Great Dane (Colt).
2. What is/was your career?
Right now, I am enjoying my last week of maternity leave before I have to go back to work. I work in public accounting at Deloitte.
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Montgomery County, and what has it done for you?
I joined Stroller Strides when we lived in Virginia Beach after my oldest was born. We moved to the DC area right before Johnny was born and I joined up here. I'm looking forward to continuing to attend Saturday classes when I go back to work. Besides the obvious answer of helping me get back in shape, Stroller Strides has been a great place to meet other moms and get support!
4. What is your favorite strides exercise?
I really love a good plank - it is just so effective!
5. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
Everything! I think I read every book before having Abby and still felt completely unprepared.
6. List 3 of your favorite things:
- Curling up with a good magazine or article
7. What your proudest mommy moment so far?
Watching my older kids interact with their little brother and/or sister. They are so sweet and gentle.
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
I'm not great at giving advice, but I'm working now on trying not to over schedule the family and trying to really enjoy the unplanned moments of our day.
Thank you, Amy, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you!
Check back to see who our MOM will be next month!
