August 2018 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for August! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Kristin McGonigal!

Kristin has such an amazing, positive energy and vibe every day! No matter what the twins throw at her figuratively or literally she takes it with stride and a smile! 😂Kristin makes being a mom of two look easy and always takes our workouts to the max. She’s a fantastic part of our village and a dear friend.~ Instructor Lyndsey

Kristin is full of positive energy , strong , energetic and super friendly ! I’ve known her from almost first class and ever since we became friends . She is an amazing mom to the most adorable twins ! I absolutely love having the three of them in my classes ! Kirstin is so welcoming and kind! She shows up with the most positive attitude and makes everyone an instant friend. She's an amazing mom to her twins and puts her all into her workouts. So happy to have her a part of fit4mom. ~ Instructor Kelci

We asked Kristin a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My awesome husband Ryan and our twins Maggie and Jack (22 months).

What is/was your career?

Right now my career is full time mom - which is the greatest, most fulfilling job I've ever had!

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was over a year ago when the twins were six months old. I attended a Stroller Strides class at Rio. It took a monumental effort to get two babies and myself fed, dressed and out the door. I remember feeling overwhelmed and exhausted even before the class began, but by the end of class, I was feeling great and already planning when I could attend the next class! I was thrilled to meet and talk with so many moms who helped me and welcomed me. The exercise invigorated me and gave me a new sense of accomplishment.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

I attend Pike and Rose Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Montgomery Mall Tuesday and Thursdays. I try to get to as many Saturday classes as I can.

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I'd have to say abs and burpees! I also enjoy any cardio I can get in!

What has being a mom taught you?

I've learned patience and to just live in the moment and enjoy! With twins nothing ever goes smoothly - I have learned to laugh and take the time to enjoy every moment with these two.

List 3 of your favorite things.

1. My family

2. The beach

3. Caps hockey (yeah Stanley Cup Champs!!)

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

So many embarrassing moments, I have learned to go with the flow and laugh at myself. The funniest moments of late occur when I "secretly" observe Maggie and Jack engage in their "twin talk" and as they create games of chase and make believe.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Its ok to ask for help or advice. I have been blessed to have a supportive husband and amazing mother who help me get through each day and I've also learned so much from the moms I've met at Fit4Mom. These moms help me to enjoy each and every class and are A-mazing moms and friends!

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

JUST DO IT! You will be happy you did! You don't have to be perfect, just grab your strollers and your kiddos and get out the door. You will feel a sense of accomplishment each time as you model a healthy lifestyle to your children and you will connect with a caring and helpful group of moms. You deserve it!

Thank you, Kristin for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in September!
