December 2020 MOM - Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for December! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor.... Andrea Kaplan!

I have loved getting to know Andrea in my Monday barre class! She consistently shows up ready to workout and her determination is amazing! ~ Instructor Courtland

Andrea is so inspiring! She comes to all classes with a smile on her face and is so dedicated to her daughter, family and health. She works hard and is such a wonderful member of this Fit4mom family!! I love seeing her every Tuesday in class. ~ Instructor Liz

We asked Andrea a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

Myself, my husband Evan, our 2 year old Audrey and our cat Phoebe

What is/was your career?

I'm a SAHM. I had been in Property Management for 12 years. I worked with Low Income properties reviewing and approving/rejecting applicants based on qualifications to rent within the program.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

I joined Fit4Mom Charleston, SC in 2019 when Audrey was 4 months old. We moved back to this area last December and my first class was Stroller Strides with Liz. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and it felt great to get back into a routine after our move.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

Currently I am at Barre class with Courtland on Mondays at Montgomery Mall. Tuesdays with Liz at Stroller Strides at Clarksburg Outlets. Thursdays with Heather at 360 in Clarksburg. I try to go to an online class Wednesday and Friday as well.

What is your favorite F4Mom exercise?

I like all the classes for different reasons. Barre has really helped me with my flexibility and balance.

What has being a mom taught you?

Patience. I had a difficult pregnancy and was hospitalized at 32 weeks due to a placenta condition called Vasa Previa. Audrey was born at 34 weeks through an emergency csection and spent 73 days in NICU before coming home the day after Thanksgiving in 2018. Life can throw alot at you but with a little patience at situations you can navigate your way. She's been an energetic ball since she got home.

List 3 of your favorite things.

Red wine, hot baths and Bravo tv shows.

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Oh gosh, probably a lot of things. Probably Audrey going through her toddler streaking stage on zoom calls with family and her speech teacher.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Give yourself some grace and a break when you can.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommocofrederick class?

Definitely come out and try it! Everyone is always nice and welcoming and helps you find the moves that are best for you and what your body can handle.
