We are excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for December! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Kim Kehr.
Instructor Dana says, "Kim is so very friendly with everyone. I like that she just jumped right in, new to the area and to our Stroller Strides family with a new baby of her own, and somehow she still finds time to deliver meals to our new moms!"
We asked Kim a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband, Clint, and I have been married for 6 years. Our son, Jonas, is 2. Our daughter, Aria, is 5 months.
2. What is/was your career?
I was a Special Education teacher for 6 years before I started my "new career" as a full-time mom.
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of Montgomery County, and what has it done for you?
When I realized we where moving, I contacted Heather via e-mail and said I wanted to join. We moved August 23 and we were working out Labor Day weekend!
4. What is your favorite strides exercise?
My favorite exercise would probably be squats. Everyone likes toned glutes and thighs.
5. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
I am in awe of the tremendous love I have for my children. I would give anything for them. I wasn't sure I could love another just as much as I love Jonas but Aria has multiplied the love we have in our hearts.
6. List 3 of your favorite things:
I enjoy spending time cooking and eating with my family (I'm kind of a homebody). I love snuggling up for movie night. It's usually Disney these days. I also like a good pedicure but that's not as essential on the East Coast.
7. What your proudest mommy moment so far?
Every milestone feels awesome as you watch your little ones blossom. My particular favorite was when Jonas started asking for "hugs" all day long at about one and a half. Now he says, "I hold you, mommy?" The sentiment is the same and I love cuddling with my big guy!
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
My only advice is to try to surround yourself with mommy friends. Some will have advice while others can just commiserate with you!
Thank you, Kim, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! Check back to see who our MOM will be next month!
