We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for July! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Judith Shattuck!
Judith is so fun to have in class! You can see when she sets her mind to something and gets fierce about her workout! She is a strong and thoughtful individual and mother.~ Instructor Claire
Judith is hilarious and she is a joy to have in class! She always works hard and helps make new moms feel welcome. She sets a great example for her kiddos by showing them how much fun a healthy lifestyle can be! ~ Instructor Adrienne
We asked Judith a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Jay, Sophia (5) and Houston (2)
2. What is/was your career?
My career before becoming a full-time mom was in Human Resources. I worked in Human Resources for the Department of Navy.
3. When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?
First class was in July of 2016. I remember thinking…wow…this was REALLY hard! These mommas are no joke but I loved every minute of it. I also remember all the ladies being so nice and welcoming.
4. Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?
I usually attend classes at Wheaton, Silver Spring and sometimes the family classes on Saturday's at Rio.
5. What is your favorite strides exercise?
My favorite strides exercise are drill like exercises. I enjoy doing the high intensity exercise for short intervals. Makes me feel like I am getting a really good workout in.
6. What has being a mom taught you?
Being a mom has taught me that no matter what I will never know it all and the job never gets easier. Every stage has its challenges so just as I am thinking I have a handle on this mom thing something new comes up.
7. List 3 of your favorite things.
2. Coffee. Coffee with friends is even better.
3. Hulu. I love Hulu! I can watch some of my favorite shows during naps and after bedtime. It’s fantastic!
8. Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?
Hmmm…. embarrassing mommy moment happened with Houston while on vacay in Hawaii. We were at the USS Arizona Memorial and Houston (6 months) was in the Ergo baby carrier sleeping. At some point, he pooped and it leaked all over me and the Ergo. Since we were at the Memorial I couldn’t do or say much about it. I was trying my best to respectful. I just had to walk around and act like nothing was wrong. I know I must have smelled. I felt so bad for all the tourists.
9. Any advice for other moms out there?
Easier said than done but don’t be afraid to reach out for help, advice, suggestions, etc. Chances are there is another mom going through or has gone through the same thing.
10. What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first Fit4Mom MoCo class?
For anyone considering attending a Fit4Mom class…just do it! Even if you think you won’t be able to do the exercises, just go!
Best thing I could have done. We moved here from Guam 1.5 years ago. Moving to a big city not knowing anyone in the middle of winter was a depressing. I badly needed this and so glad I did because I meet a great group ladies
Thank you, Judith, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!
Check back to see who our MOM will be in August!
