July 2018 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for July! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Molly Grasso!

Molly has embraced her fitness journey with incredible energy! I love the story she told that when she gets asked, “what do you like to do?” she now hears herself answer, “I like to workout”! Molly is positive, encouraging, strong, and honest. A treat to have in class or workout with! ~ Instructor Claire

With a kind and generous spirit, Molly feels like a long-time friend the moment you meet her. She is driven, strong, smart, fun-loving, and so encouraging. She makes you feel like you can do anything! It is a pleasure to workout with Molly. ~ Instructor Kim

Molly's positive energy is so wonderful to be around. She always has a smile on her face and works really hard during classes. If we have any new moms in a class that Molly is attending, she makes a point to stop and chat with them either, after class or while moving between stations to help them feel welcome. She is a joy to have in class and to workout with! ~ Instructor Adrienne

We asked Molly a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My family is my husband of almost 9 years, Ian, and our three boys. Graham is 5, Nolan is 4, and Carter is 9 months.

What is/was your career?

I’ve been doing the Stay at Home Mom gig ever since I had Graham, but I also rep a clean beauty company and dabble on Etsy making knitted items for littles. Before kids I worked in business consulting, event planning and project management.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was back in November of last year when Carter was 8 weeks old. I remember how welcoming and encouraging everyone was (especially Claire and Adrienne!) and thinking to myself “why the heck didn’t I start this 5 years ago!?” And then being soooo sore the next day.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

I love to do strides at Wheaton or Pike & Rose on Mondays and Wednesdays, Barre on Friday at Wheaton, and I just finished my second session with Body Back, so I plan on dropping in on classes at Tilden and Wheaton as my summer schedule allows!

What is your favorite strides exercise?

Give me all the squats :) and I have sort of learned to love Burpees. I can’t believe I just typed that.

What has being a mom taught you?

I have learned that every kid is different, every stage is different, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, something changes! Also that moms need other moms! We weren’t meant to raise children on our own, and it’s so so important to find your people, and be part of a village.

List 3 of your favorite things.

  • Amazon prime
  • cheese
  • the beach

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Too many embarrassing moments to list! Probably the most mortifying was a poo-splosion in the play structure at Chick-Fil-A followed by my little guy loudly proclaiming the situation while walking through the restaurant to get to the bathroom. And then realizing I left the baby wipes in the car.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Momming is hard, and you’ll never have it all figured out. The best thing to do is trust your instincts, roll with the punches, and be okay with being perfectly imperfect. Also, be kind to yourself and try to give a smile or a look of solidarity to every mom you meet!

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

DO IT! Honestly, joining Fit4Mom has been one of the best, if not the best, decision I’ve made as a mom. It feels so good to take care of my body, and I have made such wonderful friends. Some days it’s hard to get out the door and to class, but I am always so glad that I did. I’m so thankful for the Village!

Thank you, Molly for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in August!
