July 2020 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for July! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor.... Ellen Herron!

Ellen works so hard and radiates positive energy. I always smile when I see her sign onto a virtual class and love chatting with her about workout pants or how much we are sweating! We have never actually met in person but I already feel like she is a friend! ~ Instructor Jessie G.

Ellen is a strong participant in Run Club. She “shows” up and completes all her runs and challenges. We love her energy and positivity. She is an awesome cheerleader for the other moms. ~ Run Coaches, Susan & Jenny

I have loved having Ellen in class over the years and seeing her become more involved. Starting with BBT and Body Back and now ALL of our classes plus Run Club. Not only is she a dedicated to her own health and well being but she truly cares about everyone around her, taking the time to ask about others and get to know them. I always look forward to chatting with her before and after classes. ~ Instructor Katie D.

We asked Ellen a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

Our family includes me, my husband, Sean, our son Grayson (4), our daughter, Riley (2) and dog Mia!

What is/was your career?

I just finished my 11th year teaching first grade in MCPS.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was the first day of school in 2018. I was home on maternity leave with Riley and wanted to try something new during our time home together. I believe I did a strides class in Rio. We tried many classes and Riley just wasn’t having it. Maya was SO helpful and rocked her, sang to her, and was so sweet through all her tears. I was so happy she suggested Body Back transformation! I was able to continue to workout with other mommas and have me time. :)

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

Before quarantine, I went to HIIT classes in Olney every Tuesday with Katie Delaney and Wednesdays in Wheaton with Maya! The virtual options have been EVERYTHING to me during quarantine. My own personal stress relief. I have enjoyed trying lots of different classes that I would not have been able to do while teaching. I have loved them all: from Courtland and Jessie’s barre classes, Katie’s ignite, to Marie’s 40 minute crunch- too many to name! So many great options that I truly am thankful for! I am excited to start run club this month as well!

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I have started loving Courtland’s sidelying work. It burns so good!

What has being a mom taught you?

Being a mom has taught me the meaning of true infinite love. It has also helped me slow down and enjoy the joy in the little things. I love seeing the excitement of life through my children’s eyes. It truly is a beautiful thing.

List 3 of your favorite things.

hugs, coffee, and mint chocolate chip ice cream

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

When Grayson was 2 he loved all things that could move. He was SO excited if he saw them and would happily scream, “car! bus! etc” whenever he would see one outside. He also had a really hard time with his f’s/t’s. With that being said, when we went to the grocery story and they were doing a food delivery, his very animated mispronounced “truck! truck! truck!” definitely gave us some funny looks. hehe

Any advice for other moms out there?

Be present and treat yourself with love, patience, and understanding. We are all doing the best we can for our tiny humans. :)

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

I would definitely recommend it! There are so many options and so much support. It truly has been the best stress relief, support system, and self care, and even more so during quarantine! The fit4mom dream team and community is amazing. They are supportive, real, caring, and so much fun! It's the best thing you'll do for yourself as a momma and I promise you won't regret it!

Thank you, Ellen for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in August!
