May 2019 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for May! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Kristi Vasquez!

Kristi has some of the best energy I’ve ever seen in each and every class I teach or have taken with her. Her strength physically and as a mom has really shined since I’ve met her. She brings smiles, laughter, and motivation wherever she goes. I am lucky enough to be able to call her a friend! ~ Instructor Lyndsey

I’m lucky enough to call Kristi a friend, and we basically became part of the Fit4Mom community at the same time, so it’s been amazing to watch our boys grow up together! Kristi is a big presence in classes in the best of ways! She’s that mom that can socialize with #allthemoms and make you feel welcome right away, while at the same time bringing out your competitive side to try and keep up with her during the workouts! Kristi is always looking to get the most out of class, but is also there for you 100% if you need to be at class to talk things out. I’m so grateful for her support and her friendship, and I’m so happy that we met...thanks to Fit4Mom! Matteo is lucky to have such an awesome Mama! ~ Instructor Perry

Kristi is an amazing woman . Strong, motivated , always super positive and so fun to be around! Mateo is so lucky to have such a great mama ❤️ ~ Instructor Ewa

We asked Kristi a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

The Vasquez clan includes myself, my hard-working husband JP and our sweet little Matteo who will turn 2 in May. Oh, and I can’t forget our FURst babies, our pups Pete & Felix

What is/was your career?

I used to work for Sunrise Senior Living as the Marketing Manager at their headquarters in McLean. Now, I am fortunate to be a SAHM and endure all the crazy on the daily!

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was Barre in Kentlands back in October of 2017. Matteo had just turned 4 months and all I remember was thinking how amazing it was to have found this group (thank you Maya!) I immediately felt welcomed and totally out of shape haha!

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

Let’s see, I feel like I’m all over the map these days! Usually start Monday’s at Pike & Rose for strides, Tuesdays at Kentlands, Wednesday at Rio, Thursday barre at Kentlands and Friday is up in the air between Rio, Pike and now Lakelands for 360... depends on how quickly we can get out of the house :) I also do Body Back Tuesdays/Thursdays at Lakelands!

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I can’t choose just one, I really love the mix of different workouts. I love the cardio with 360, the toning (aka “shaking is changing”) with barre and the strengthing with strides! They all really compliment each other so well.

What has being a mom taught you?

So, so much! It has taught me to let it go, not everything can be perfect, ever. It has taught me to be selfless, to give my all and more to be the best version of myself to not only be a great mom but a good wife as well. It has taught me to love and admire my mom ever more than before for all that I know now in becoming a mom myself. It has taught me more love that I could have ever imagined and it taught me that I do in fact need and it does in fact, TAKE A VILLAGE! And thank you everyone who is a part of this one for being my sisters, friends to drink wine with, shoulders to cry on and so much more. We are all so blessed to have one another <3

List 3 of your favorite things.

- When JP gets Matteo’s belly laugh to happen when they are playing

- A cold draft beer on a warm summer day

- Family beach trips

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Most kids have a hard time saying the name Matteo so we hear a lot of “potato”, “tomato”, or “Matteto” and while telling a story at a recent mom’s night out, I straight up called my own kid “Tomato” You will remember if you were there!

Any advice for other moms out there?

Trust your instincts. Find your people/village/network. Take time for YOU mama, so that you can be there for them. Take deep breaths, be present in the moment and remember that every phase will pass. As we find ourselves yearning for the next, we immediately miss the last <3

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

Don’t just consider it... DO IT! Half of the battle is just showing up! I wouldn’t be the mom I am today if it wasn’t for this group. You won’t regret it!

Thank you, Kristi for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in June!
