May 2021-MOM Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for May! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Bethany Ventura!

I have LOVED getting to know Bethany over the past several months. She always shows up, pushes hard, but with a smile and words of encouragement for all the mamas. Bethany became my virtual buddy during the pandemic and I’m so glad I finally got to meet her in person! She is one strong mama/teacher/workout buddy and an incredible member of Our Village! ~ Instructor Jessie

Bethany is one amazing mama! She balances life as a mom to two little cuties, works full time with special needs children and still finds time for herself (I’m super impressed by her joining F4M DURING Covid!! So motivating!). She brings great energy to virtual class; I can’t wait to meet her in person. ~ Instructor Meegan

We asked Bethany a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

Me, My husband Johnny, Nathan (age 8), and Camden (age 5).

What is/was your career?

I am a special educator in the autism department for MCPS and I have grades 2-4…typically.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first trial class was a stroller strides class with Maya like 2 years ago that my friend Summer brought me to. I loved it but it just did not work out with my school or ESY schedule. I finally decided to join in August of 2020…mid pandemic…looking for any and all adult interaction.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

Now that school is back in session, I go to virtual Body Boost on Monday, Fit4Baby on Tuesday and I either do in person Stroller Strides or Virtual Body Boost on Saturday morning. On days off I hope to join a barre class. I love Barre classes.

What is your favorite FIT4MOM exercise?

I love anything with bridges! They bring me back to my cheerleading days :)

What has being a mom taught you?

You cannot be in control of everything, and no one expects you to be perfect. As a special educator I strived for perfection…until I had a child who hates to sleep. All of a sudden functioning on 1 or 2 cups of coffee was somedays what I had to do and things still were ok. And…always check under the bar for snack wrappers :)

List 3 of your favorite things.

1. Winery and breweries

2. The beach or the pool

3. Barbeques

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

I have had so many embarrassing moments with my kids. They are comic relief. I would have to say my most embarrassing moment was with sweet Camden this past year. I was just about to get ready to teach. I let all of my families in from the waiting room and as soon as I unmuted myself Camden yells “I’m done!!! Can anyone wipe my butt???” I see all of my parents and paraeducators laughing hysterically. I don’t think I will ever live it down with this group of families.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Take care of yourself. If you can’t be mentally, physically, and emotionally present, it makes for some very dark stormy days. Working out with Fit4Mom has really brought me out of some deep, dark emotional days, but also helped me balance that at home and work from home life.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommocofrederick class?

Give it a chance! Really put your heart into it. It is a great workout with great people, virtually or in person, and no one is judging you!

Thank you, Bethany for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in June!
