October 2021 MOM - Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Megan Ehret!

" I have loved getting to know Megan in my Monday night boost class! She is always such a light and brings such great energy to zoom classes! I’m so impressed with her work ethic, continually showing up each week, even taking her weights and joining class while on vacation at the beach!! We live in different parts of the county and I’m so glad virtual classes have allowed me to now consider her a friend! " ~ Instructor Emma

"It has been a delight to get to know Megan over the past year in Run Club. She is someone who sticks out to me as showing up. She shows up for herself in the consistency, dedication, and commitment to her training runs and pushing herself to run longer distances (huge shoutout for recently finishing her first marathon ON HER OWN). She shows up for others in offering support and motivation. The enthusiasm and passion that she brings to running and shares with others are an absolute joy." ~Coach Emily

"Seeing Megan on Wednesdays mornings was a pure joy. I miss her smile and early morning energy ! What a great model to her kids that were watching her during Ignite classes ! Hope to see her soon , maybe in person one day!" ~Instructor Ewa

We asked Megan a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

The members of my immediate family include my husband Kevin and my two children Erin (11) and Jack (7).

What is/was your career?

I am a Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Pharmacy.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was late 2020. I had joined run club at the beginning of 2020 and loved the camaraderie. I was focused on incorporating additional training into my schedule and found the Fit4Mom classes to fit perfectly into those needs.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

You’ll find me in the virtual classes, as they fit nicely into my schedule-I’m able to drop into the class and not have to worry about finding a babysitter for the kids. Our house runs a very crazy schedule with two working parents and very active kids. It is so nice to be able to work out on my time.

What is your favorite exercise that you have done with FIT4MOM (in Strides, Barre, 360, Body Ignite or Body Boost)?

My favorite exercise that I have done with Fit4Mom is anything weight related. I’ve enjoyed learning how to use the weight bar in ignite and have really felt the effect of it. Ewa and Katie have been tremendous teachers. Although, Emma’s Monday night Boost classes will give anyone a run for their money.

What has being a mom taught you?

Being a mom has taught me that anything is possible. Watching your kids work hard for something and set goals for themselves has really inspired me this past year. Standing back and looking at all the things my husband and kids have accomplished in the last year is really amazing.

List 3 of your favorite things.

1. My family- It’s crazy thinking last year we were all in one house together for everything- working and school. At times, I thought could you people please go back to your regular schedules. Now that I am the only one home at times, it’s very quiet. Too quiet. I miss them☺ Although, with our Savannah cat, Derby, it’s usually not quiet for long.

2. Notre Dame Football- anyone that knows me, knows that Saturdays are game day at our house

3. Running- this past year, I have found a love for running. I ran in high school, not very well, but now I run for fun. It crazy what we as mom’s can accomplish when we put our minds to it.

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

When my son Jack was born, I went back to teach a lecture in the School of Pharmacy. It was pouring that day. I made sure that Jack was covered well in the stroller and we made it to the School- but I was soaked. No way could I teach in clothes I had on. The school had a closet of t-shirts, extra small only. I took one and made it fit. I must have looked crazy, in a tight shirt, with a kid in a sling, teaching bipolar disorder, but I love what I do!!

Any advice for other moms out there?

Something I learned this year and I hope it helps others: We’re all in the same storm, but not in the same boat. Look out for your fellow moms out there. Advocate for yourselves, but remember not to judge their decisions- we’re all trying to do our best.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommocofrederick class?

It’s amazing and life-changing. I never thought I would find a group of moms, working together, meeting each other where they are, and being a village for each other. This group does it all and more. It goes beyond the classes- you are part of great team of women who want everyone to succeed.

Thank you so much, Megan, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
