Team Spotlight - March 2019

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Adrienne Settles.

When I read Adrienne's FIT4MOM story, I'm blown away at how fast the years have gone by. It really doesn't seem like THAT long ago that I met her in class, but whooooooa how things have changed since those days (like the size and age of our oldest kiddos for one)! Adrienne has worn SO many hats here at fit4mommoco, and she's done so beautifully. She's always been there to listen to my ideas, help me brainstorm & try new things....maybe shut down a bad idea or two ;), and I can't express how thankful I am for her constant support. She's a fantastic instructor, an awesome listener, and does a wonderful job managing our team our playgroup captains. Thank you, Adrienne, for being such a valuable part of this team and this village! ~xoxoxo, Heather

1. Who are the members of your family?

The members of my family are my wonderful hubby Brandon, my son Alexander (7) and my daughter Casey (4).

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

You can find me at either Wheaton Mall on Mondays for Stroller Barre or on Tuesdays in Downtown Silver Spring for Stroller Strides. I am very lucky to wear a few different hats on the fit4mommoco #dreamteam. I am a Stroller Strides + Barre Instructor and I am also the Manager of Our Village.

3. Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story!

In 2012 (OMG I can’t believe its been that long), I saw Claire teaching Stroller Strides in downtown Silver Spring when I was on my way to Gymboree with my son who at the time was about 10-11 months old. She was super friendly and gave me information on where I could find classes. My first official class was with Dana when she was pregnant with Eve. I remember thinking that I was just going to be strolling around maybe drinking coffee and chatting with some new moms. As you all know I was 100% wrong and I remember Dana having us run stairs and I was pretty sure that I was going to be sick haha. But at the end of class I realized that I loved it (and thankfully my son did too) and I signed up for a membership. Fast forward and in 2015 I became Playgroup Captain and then finally in 2016 I joined the instructor team and moved from PGC to Manager of Our Village. I also can’t leave out that I HATED running until I was lovingly “forced” to join run club in August of 2017. As a result, I LOVE running now and my goal is to complete a ½ marathon by 2020. That 100% wouldn’t have ever happened if it wasn’t for fit4mommoco.

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

I love stair runs, squats and planks.

5. What do you LOVE about being an instructor?

As a manager I love organizing the meal trains. They were SO helpful for me when I had Casey and I just love the idea of Our Village coming together to help each other out. As an instructor I love helping moms realize how strong they really are. I also enjoy keeping the kiddos happy so that moms can get the most out of their workouts.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

The biggest part of my “why” is my kids and all of YOU! Knowing that my kids are growing up understanding that having an active life style is fun and the norm is very important to me. The other part of my why, selfishly is being able to work part time and have my kiddos with me. I also like having a purpose outside of the home and knowing that I am (hopefully) helping make a difference in someone’s life.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

A fun fact about me is that I am a HUGE Marvel and DC Comic nerd. My husband found a way for us to get free tickets to early showings and he and I have seen almost every new movie for the past 2 years at an early screening. I also think its funny that I was his boss for almost 2 years at Enterprise Rent-A-Car which is where we met.

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Fit4mommoco has really added so much to my life and my family's lives. We have met some of our closest friends through classes and the family environment that Our Village creates is unlike any other. I have also reached goals that wouldn’t be possible without this village for example, running a 10miler . I am beyond thankful for all of YOU and for the time that we get to spend together. Can’t wait to see you in class!
