Team Spotlight - March 2022

This month, the spotlight is on....

We have such a crazy amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM | MOCO + FREDERICK. I love giving everyone the opportunity to get to know a little more about each one of them, and if you saw our announcement at the beginning of the year, you know that I am SO excited to be publishing a spotlight each month again after a very long hiatus.

So with that, we're going to continue our instructor spotlight with.....Meaghan Trout!

I met Meaghan back in 2016, when all of our kiddos were all much younger (although funny how we haven't aged at all 🤔). Meaghan attended class with us in our Clarksburg locations, and she was always so full of energy and sunshine. Nothing has changed! Well actually, quite a lot has changed, but her smile and her positive energy is still contagious!

Meaghan is one of the kindest, most glass-half-full kind of people that I know. She has a great sense of humor, she can make anyone smile, and she is a truly talented and passionate instructor. Her classes are well thought out, and you are sure to leave her classes feeling rejuvenated and accomplished.

So read on about Meaghan's story with FIT4MOM, and then go find her in a class!

xo, Heather

Who are the members of your family?

Eric (husband of 17 years), Alyson (12), Nathan (9), Lucy (6)...my kids would want me to include Snowball (cat) and Olaf (guinea pig)!

Where can people find you, i.e. what’s your role within FIT4MOM | MOCO + FREDERICK?

Right now I teach Boost on Tuesday evenings in the Lakelands and alternating Saturday mornings in Urbana. I also teach 360, Strides and Barre, but not on a regular basis. So you never know where you may see me!

Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story!

I’ve always been active and enjoyed working out, but I didn’t learn about F4M until my youngest was born. I had attended a gym with my other 2 kiddos…they were perfectly happy to be in the gym daycare. But not Lucy . That’s when I found Stroller Strides and I fell in love with FIT4MOM! It’s been almost 7 years since then…I SO wish I would’ve known about it when my first was born! That’s why I try to get the word out to any mom I meet!

I love that FIT4MOM also helped me turn my passion of staying active into something more serious. I’ve learned so much since becoming an instructor! I have met some amazing moms through F4M and I really love what I do!

What is your favorite exercise/activity to teach?

That’s a tough question. I really enjoy it all…seriously! I love exercises like planks, jacks, squats, deadlifts because I can really feel my muscles working. I have a love/hate relationship with burpees, mountain climbers, and other ground based cardio because they work SO well, but I don’t like them in the moment. 😁

What do you love about being part of the #dreamteam?

I love being a part of this team because all of these ladies push me to be better at what I do. They inspire me in so many ways; whether it is in fitness, nutrition or motherhood! Also, there is always a mama there to lift you up and say “hey, I’ve been there too”.

How has FIT4MOM or this village helped you during such unusual times?

When the world first shut down in March 2020 and we had our first virtual Strides class, I distinctly remember thinking that FIT4MOM was going to save me and my sanity! Those virtual classes kept me active, gave me something to look forward to and helped me stay in contact with my friends.

I also feel so grateful for my F4M mama friends because motherhood is just one unusual moment after another (am I right?!). I always have a friend to ask advice from, celebrate good times or just commiserate with me.

What’s your why? Why do you keep doing what you do?

My family and myself! I have become a good role model for my family. My husband and kids are more active because I love being active. My kids see me making my health a priority. I also do it for me…so I can be healthy and enjoy life for a long, long time! And I keep doing it with F4M because it involves the things I am passionate about: exercise and being a mom.

What is a fun fact that our village may not already know about you?

I can still do a cartwheel! My oldest does competitive cheer and I’m trying to keep up with her (just kidding…cartwheel is as far as I go these days!).

On the serious side, I’m currently a preschool teacher and really enjoy that age group. I have also taught 2nd and 3rd grade.

Is there anything else you’d like our village to know?

If you were ever on the fence about joining Run Club, just do it! I never enjoyed running, but I decided to give Run Club a try. I grew to really enjoy running. I ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in September and was so proud of myself!
