Team Spotlight - May 2019

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Kristy Morales!

Kristy and I have known each other since our oldest kiddos were just babies. Since then our roles have changed, our families have grown, and FIT4MOM has added new programs, but one thing hasn't changed: how much Kristy does for this community of moms. Kristy is an amazing run club coach and manager, and she's recently taken on an additional role of managing our newest program: 360. She's passionate about helping moms reach their goals, she has the best sense of humor, and I feel so fortunate to get to coach alongside her each weekend. Thank you, Kristy, for always bringing your best self and for constantly helping me chase my crazy dreams for this village! I appreciate YOU! xo, Heather

Now, read on and get to know a bit more about Kristy and then go see her at run club and/or 360!

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Jose, my son Charlie (7), and my daughter Amelia (4).

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

I am the Run club and 360 manager. You can find me every Saturday morning at Rio leading a run club session and on Monday mornings at 10 am at MLK Park teaching 360.

3. Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story!

I started Stroller Strides 7 years ago this summer when Charlie was just a year old. My great friend Adrienne introduced me to the classes. In May 2014, I became a Stroller Strides instructor and in 2015 I became a run club coach. At the beginning of last summer, I stopped teaching Stroller Strides, but continued with run club and trained for 360. I am so thankful that even though my roles have changed, I am still a member of this community!

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

I love everything about teaching 360 because it combines all of my favorite exercises: building endurance and lower body conditioning!

5. What do you LOVE about being an instructor?

I love seeing moms set goals for themselves at run club, push themselves to reach those goals, and eventually through their own hard work crush those goals. There is no better feeling than seeing the excitement on someone’s face when they realize they’ve hit a new personal best mile time, or run for an entire distance. It’s a fantastic sense of individual gain for the moms, combined with a sense of community building and support.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

I have several reasons why I continue with Fit4Mom. One of the main reasons for my continued participation is exposing my children the fun side of exercise (and not just as something we’re forced or told to do). It is awesome to walk in to a room at home and see my kids “teaching” their own strides classes with one another. I also love connecting with new moms and moms that I may not have seen in awhile with each new session of run club. Lastly, but just as important, Fit4Mom has connected me with some of the greatest friends. As we mature, and our time becomes scarce, it can be difficult to find time for friends and exercise. Fit4Mom, allows me to keep up with friends, while maintaining my health.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I was never a “runner” until after the birth of my daughter, Amelia. The support and commitment of run club is what pushed me to finally stick with it. That’s why I NEVER allow anyone to say they aren’t a runner. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you!

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Sometimes motherhood can be very challenging, never forget that this community is here for you. If your morning has been rushed, you’re running late, still come to class. You will always feel better after a great workout and hanging out with amazing moms!
