Team Spotlight - October 2017

We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County, and I thought it would be nice if we could get to know a little more about each one of them. I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Dana Adebiyi!

I remember the very first time I met Dana very clearly. She taught one of the very first Stroller Strides classes I ever attended, and I actually signed up for a membership because of her (so thank you for getting me hooked!). Dana is an incredibly talented instructor, and her classes are always planned in such a creative and thorough manner. I was fortunate enough to team teach Body Back with Dana for multiple sessions, and we always enjoyed teaching, sweating and LAUGHING together! Dana is a wonderful listener, and she has a heart of gold. She wants every MOM, client or not, to find time for herself and reach her true potential as a woman AND as a mom. Read on to learn more about Dana, and then go register for one of her classes! Thank you Dana, so very much, for all you do for me and for our families here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! xo, Heather

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband and I have been married for 9 years. We have two kids - Alexander, who just celebrated his 8th birthday, and Eve who is 4 year old. And we have one year old kitties: Snow and Clay.

2. Where can people find you? Where do you teach?

I teach Stroller Strides classes at Rio. You can see me mostly on Wednesdays but some Fridays too. I am also the Body Back instructor at our Wheaton location, and sometimes at Rio on Saturdays.

3. Tell us your FIT4MOM story!

When Alexander was a baby I was looking for a way to workout without leaving him alone in a gym nursery. I came to my very first class, then in White Flint Mall, and loved it. I became an instructor shortly after. When Heather, our franchisee, decided to start Body Back program, I really wanted to be part of it. We started our very first session together a few years back.

4. What is your favorite thing to teach/do with our kiddos and/or moms?

Final assessment classes at Body Back, seeing how proud my moms feel after seeing their progress and accomplishments at the end of their transformation session. When both moms and kids leave with a smile on their faces at the and of Stroller Strides classes.

5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?

Learning more about and meeting new moms from different backgrounds, places of births, different beliefs - I love it!

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

My WHY are my kids. They see that I am passionate about my job, about health and fitness, about helping others to be healthy and hopefully they will grow up wanting the same.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

Most probably know that English is my second language and that I was born in Slovakia, Because of this, usually around 9.00pm when my mom brain is starting to prepare for night rest, my English becomes worse and worse progressively. If you ever meet me late at night, I might have to use my hands and feet to communicate :)

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

I've met so many moms through past almost 8 years of being an instructor. If we met way back or yesterday, I would like to thank you for coming to my classes, for your feedback and support! I look forward to hopefully many years to come with FIT4MOM!

Dana, thank you thank you for being such an integral part of this team! I appreciate all you do for all of us here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County!

Check back next month for our next spotlight!
