Team Spotlight - October 2018

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Andrea Kenny!

Andrea is one of those people. You know , the kind of person you meet who is so warm & welcoming, so sweet, and so helpful from the get-go. The more I've gotten to know her, the more I know it's truly who she is to her core. Anytime we need an extra hand, she's willing to lend hers (even though she's already accomplishing a GAZILLION other things at the same time). Andrea always brings her positive energy to whatever she's doing, whether it's attending a class or run (I mean she's done it ALL), or if she's leading a super fun activity with our kiddos. She's an invaluable member of the #dreamteam, and I'm so appreciative for all she does for our families and for me! ~xo, Heather

Andrea always has a smile on and a fun activity for moms and kids alike. She makes Rio Wednesdays the best! I love working with her and my daughter loves her crafts. ~ Instructor, Lyndsey

Andrea is such a wonderful asset to our Playgroup Captain Team! I love the creative crafts and field trips that she comes up with for our kiddos. She is also always willing to help out when we need coverage at another location. Thank you Andrea so much for everything that you do for Our Village! ~ Our Village Manager, Adrienne

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Mike, Charlotte (5), Owen (3)

2. Where can people find you? Where do you teach/lead playgroup?

Depending on the day/week/month, I'm at Stroller Strides either at RIO or the Outlets, Body Back in the Lakelands or RIO, or running all around the RIO area with Run Club!

My playgroup is Wednesdays at RIO, and we'd love to have you!

3. Tell us your FIT4MOM story! Yes, the entiiiiiiire thing.

I attended my first Fit4Mom class when Charlotte was about 18 months old. I remember it being hard, but amazing to see so many strong, fit mamas working so hard! I started attending classes more regularly after Owen was born and I was on maternity leave. It was wintertime, and I remember after the excitement of the holidays ended, it was nice to have something else to look forward to! It was refreshing to get out of the house and spend time with other moms. After I left that job, started my own business, and had my kids home with me a few days a week, my schedule became more flexible and that's when I was really able to experience all Fit4Mom had to offer. I've been a part of Stroller Strides, Body Back and Run Club, and I can't say enough amazing things about what this has given my family and me!

4. What is your favorite thing to do with our kiddos and/or moms?

Sensory type playgroups are my favorite because they encourage independent learning/exploring. Because the kiddos are kept busy and entertained, it allows us Mamas to chat/catch up too! We all know we need that adult interaction :)

5. What is the BEST thing about being a playgroup captain?

The smiles!! From both the moms and the kids! Also, having an excuse to spend way too much time on Pinterest or in Michael's!

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

Playgroups are part of what makes Fit4Mom/Stroller Strides such a unique experience for our moms. To be able to get an amazing workout in, and then to be able to spend quality time crafting or playing with your children, all while spending time and chatting with other moms...I don't know anywhere else you can get all of this, and I love being able to help give this experience to others.

To hear from moms that this was their child's first foot/handprint craft, or that they still have their child's craft hanging on the fridge from months ago...that makes me smile and it makes it all worth it!

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

A few of my favorite things (in no particular order): Pinterest, a good party, guacamole, anything Bachelor/Bachelorette related, wine, summer, spicy margaritas, NYC, a good book, watching my kids feel the sense of achievement, Fit4Mom, great friends, my family and being able to help others with something!

My least favorite thing of all is being cold!

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Motherhood is hard, like, really hard. That's no secret, we all know that. Having your strong village around you might not always make it easier, but it gives you the support you need to get through anything. Also, your kiddos love you more than anything in the entire world, no matter what!

Thank you, Andrea, for being our spotlight this month! Check back next month to learn more about another member of our #dreamteam here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County!
