Team Spotlight - April 2019

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Perry Brown!

It has been such a blessing to get to know Perry and welcome her to the dream team. She's a natural in the instructor role, and her classes are always full of fun songs and entertainment for the little ones. I am so excited that Perry is going to be adding Stroller Strides to her certifications, so you'll have even more opportunities to see her in class! If you haven't tried a class with her yet, check out Pike and sign yourself up! You certainly won't regret it! Thank you, Perry, for all you do for this team and for our village. We are so fortunate to have you and your family as part of fit4mommoco! xo, Heather

1. Who are the members of your family?

The Brown Family consists of myself, my husband Taylor, my son Tucker (21 months) and baby girl Bailey (7 weeks).

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

You can find me attending stroller classes mostly at Rio and Kentlands, but also Pike & Rose and Clarksburg. I teach stroller barre classes wherever the need be, and will be back from maternity leave and teaching on Wednesday’s at Clarksburg Outlets, starting on April 17th! I am also ALMOST certified to teach stroller strides and excited to start teaching that as well!

3. Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story! was Labor Day weekend, summer of 2017, Tucker was 2 months old and we were celebrating our first anniversary by going to Brookeville Beer Farm. It was our first time to the brewery, and we were lucky enough to find a table on the patio right when we got there, next to another couple with twins a bit older than Tucker. We sparked a conversation with the couple next to us, I’m sure it started by saying something about our kids, and then eventually the conversation turned to husbands chatting and wives chatting separately. That’s when I first heard ALL about Fit4Mom and as soon as I got home I looked into it, and attended my first class that next week! Kristen McGonigal is the awesome Mama who shared her love for Fit4Mom with me that day, and because of her, my story began and is continuing to be written!

I started attending classes regularly, even on Saturdays when we’re around, often with my husband. Then during the spring of 2018, a couple months after becoming a member, I starting thinking about becoming part of the team. I loved attending classes, I love fitness, I always wanted to be a fitness instructor, specifically barre, so I thought “what better time than now, as a SAHM, and to be able to bring my babies to work with me!”. I got certified, and began instructing that summer. Fast forward a year later, I just had another baby, and I start to teach again next week...I’m so excited to get back into it!

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

My favorite thing to teach in the class, is that you can get a total core workout throughout the entire class, as long as you have the correct form and don’t just get a core workout during an ab station! I really love finishing my classes with bridges (anyone that has taken my class would know this!) and I love wall sits!

5. What do you LOVE about being an instructor?

I love instructing because of all of YOU and your kiddos! I love showing up to class, getting to see all of your faces and being able to help you achieve your fitness goals for the morning while also entertaining your children. I especially love when a Mom shows up to class a little frazzled or overwhelmed from a rough night or morning, is so strong throughout the class, and then finishes her workout with a completely different attitude and view of the day going forward!

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

My WHY is very similar to what I love about’s all of YOU! This village, the community, the fact that I get to have a job surrounded by Moms that encourage, support, challenge, love on, lift up and push each other forward! My WHY is also completely about my family. Modeling self-love and self-care to my babies and the members of our community everyday, and being able to work with my kiddos in tow!

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

A fun fact that most people don’t know about me would be that I played the harp as a kid, and my harps name was Sarah haha! Another fun fact is that I used to sing, well, and I even sang with my choir at Carnegie Hall in NYC and in famous cathedrals in York and London, England!

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

I absolutely love Fit4Mom Montgomery County and all of you! This village is 100% our family away from family, the greatest community that I’ve ever experienced or been a part of. I just want you all to know how thankful I am for ALL that you did for my family and I during my pregnancy and my maternity leave. Whether you did something big or small, you all stepped up in a major way, and I feel so loved and supported, and that’s all anyone can ever ask for. I’ve made the most incredible friendships through Fit4Mom, and I literally don’t know where I’d be without this community. I thank God every day for this village and this job! Xo
