Team Spotlight - June 2018

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Kristen Ducey.

As you read her story below, it's kind of funny, because I so clearly remember that day when Kristen approached me at RIO. I was packing up after teaching a big Wednesday crowd, about to hop in the car as she ran up to me. She knew exactly what FIT4MOM was, and I could almost feel a sense of relief as she learned we were here...right near her new home. I left that day excited about meeting her, and that excitement was clearly for good reason!

If you attend playgroup on Thursdays in the Kentlands, you KNOW that Kristen is awesome at what she does. She gives 100% to everything she commits to, and I'm excited to have her alongside me as a run club coach for the half marathon group. Her passion and love for running (+ for supporting other moms!) is evident, and I cannot wait for her to share that passion and knowledge with others! If you've never met Kristen and her adorable trio, now's a great time to consider a half marathon....or come to a playgroup in the Kentlands! ;)

Thank you, Kristen, for all of your hard work and dedication to Our Village and our team here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I value you and your friendship, and I thank you for all you do!

xo, Heather

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

I am the playgroup captain for Stroller Barre at the Kentlands, which means you can find me there on Thursdays (and most Tuesdays as well)! I’m also at Stroller Strides at Rio and the Outlets, especially in the summer!

Starting this session, you will also be able to spend Saturday mornings with me as I take on the job of co-coaching our FIT4MOM Half Marathon Run Club!

3. Tell us your FIT4MOM story!

I was part of a FIT4MOM program when I lived in Watertown, NY. When we moved in Rockville in June of 2016, I hoped they would have some sort of program in the area. We were at breakfast at Rio and I literally accosted Heather after a Stroller Strides class! I was so excited to be part of another wonderful group of moms but had no idea how much Fit4Mom MOCO would change my life! This group of women is so incredible, and I find myself wanting to be more involved. I love that Run Club combines my first love (running) with my littlest loves and I get to have a coffee date with friends every week!

4. What is your favorite activity to do with our moms/kids?

This is such a hard question! My favorite activity to do with moms is without a doubt Saturday morning runs. I love having conversations over the miles and learning out moms without interruptions. Plus getting to see my friends crush their goals is amazing!

My favorite activity with our kids is the milestone crafts. Getting to help make keepsakes for families is so special!

5. What is the BEST thing about being in your role?

I love this village. My kids and I have found friends that have become family within it. Now, I feel so lucky to hopefully help other moms find their place. Whether through Run Club or playgroup, I love showing moms that they can be fit, accomplish goals, and create memories with their kids!

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

I was a runner before I was a mom. It is part of who I am and something I am very proud of. I want my children to know that part of me. To see me work hard and accomplish my goals. I want them to learn healthy habits and see exercise as a form of self love. I want to show them a village of kind people who take care of each other.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I have a Masters in Art History from Sotheby’s London. I wrote my dissertation on Matisse and the Fauves.

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

That I am so grateful to be part of this amazing group!

Thank you, Kristen, for being our spotlight this month! Check back in July to learn more about another member of our #dreamteam here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County!
