Team Spotlight - May 2018

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Kim Kehr!

It feels like I just met Kim and her family yesterday (that really wasn't yesterday though, was it?!?). They had just moved to this area from CA, and Aria was only a few weeks old. Kim was familiar with FIT4MOM (and boy did I have BIG shoes to fill from her experience with Dina in Corona). She knew what potential goodness the FIT4MOM village had to offer, and she jumped right in and got to know folks right away. I was lucky enough to have Kim, Clint and their kiddos over for dessert after Thanksgiving dinner that first year, and my family has loved every moment we've been able to spend with hers since.

Fast forward almost 4 years...Kim has moved away, become a certified Stroller Strides instructor (Yahoo, yahoo! Thank you Nicole in UT for making that happen at her 3rd FIT4MOM home!), she's moved back to our area, and she's now a beautiful addition to our team here at #fit4mommoco. I am thrilled that Kim is part of our team here now, and I sure hope you've had the opportunity to meet her. Haven't tried one of her classes yet? Head over to Westfield Wheaton for Stroller Strides one of these days. I promise you won't be sad you did!

Kim, thank you for always being so supportive, for welcoming moms into this village with arms wide open, and for brightening everyone's day with your smile. I am thankful for you and for all of your hard work. Thank you! xoxo, Heather

1. Who are the members of your family?

The members in my family are my husband of 10 years, Clint, my 6 year old son, Jonas, and my 3 year old daughter, Aria.

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

Mamas can find me teaching Stroller Strides at Wheaton Mall on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Also, I attend Barre at Wheaton Mall. I’m participating in my second BodyBack Transformation at Wheaton Rescue Squad and I am a member of the current 10K Run Club.

3. Tell us your FIT4MOM story!

I found FIT4MOM back when I was on maternity leave with Jonas 6 years ago. We lived in California at the time and when I decided to stay home raising our son, I attended Stroller Strides class every chance I could.

Because my family moves quite often, I have had the pleasure of being a member of FIT4MOM Corona (Southern California), FIT4MOM Murray (Utah), and Montgomery County. Each one has been unique but unified in their singular mission to help moms find their inner and outer strength.

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

As a former elementary teacher, I love teaching songs with coordinating movement. I think keeping children happy and engaged while mama’s workout is what sets FIT4MOM apart from other fitness programs.

5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?

The best thing about being an instructor is helping moms make connections with each other and feel excited to come to class. What keeps me motivated and coming back to classes despite conflicts is the friendships I’ve made. I hope I can help that new mom connect with that seasoned mom who can offer advice or help those moms on maternity leave exchange phone numbers for future play dates.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

FIT4MOM is the single best investment I’ve made in my adult life. You get what you put in and I’m all in. My children and I have friends who are like family in three different states thanks to Stroller Strides.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

Well, it might not be a secret if you’ve seen my wardrobe but I’m a huge Disney fan. I was born, raised, and attended college in Orange County. Even living on the east coast, the kids and I have annual passes to Disneyland for when we visit my family.

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

I’m here for you. You are important and worth it!

Joining FIT4MOM and finding my village three times over has been a blessing in disguise because I’ve learned my own strength and come out of my shell.

Thank you, Kim, for being our spotlight this month! Check back next month to learn more about another member of our #dreamteam here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County!
