Team Spotlight - September 2018

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Lyndsey Neal!

If you've met Lyndsey before, you know that her energy level is out of this world! She has a heart of gold, and she wears it on her sleeve....and shares a bit of it with every mom and kiddo she encounters. How lucky are we?! She works hard, she gives her all, and we're so incredibly lucky to have her on the #dreamteam.

I remember when I first met Lyndsey. I knew right away that our village here at #fit4mommoco was gaining an amazing person. She was familiar with FIT4MOM (thank you, Caslyn for showing her first-hand what FIT4MOM is all about!), and I knew she'd be an asset to this community (she absolutely is!). Fast-forward....and here we are! She's worn multiple hats on this team, she volunteers in the community, and she wears a smile and a positive attitude constantly. Thank you, Lyndsey for all you do and for helping ME & the #dreamteam live out my vision for FIT4MOM Montgomery County! I appreciate YOU!

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Ryan and 3 year old dinosaur, I mean daughter Avery Brynn.

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

I’m a Stroller Strides Instructor who will be teaching at Montgomery Mall and Rio this Fall. I also teach at Pike and Rose on occasion.

3. Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story!

I’m a military spouse so I started Fit4Mom in Florida when my daughter was about 3 or 4 months old. Before having her I was very active and was looking for something I could do without shoving my kid into a gym daycare. I enjoyed the Florida location and as soon as we moved to Maryland I found Fit4Mom MOCO.

I can tell you that my life was changed from the very first class. Not only was it intense, I felt a sense of unspoken community in the air. A type of mama magic that we all shared with each other. Obviously I came back for more and became a playgroup captain for a while before we started expanding locations. I became an instructor 15 months ago and have enjoyed every class rain or shine ever since!

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

I love combo exercises that work both upper and lower body at the same time, and everyone knows I like to sneak a little extra cardio in when I can.

5. What do you LOVE about being an instructor?

I love the connection I have with moms when they are in the middle of the workout. When I see that look in their eye that says “I’ve got this, I can do it” regardless of what their body is telling them at the moment I know they are present. I love motivating moms throughout class and keeping them laughing with my wonderful singing skills and bad jokes.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

Anyone who knows me knows why I do the things I do. Before I had my daughter I was an elementary school teacher and put everything I had into my kids. I knew that when I had a child of my own I would make it my life’s work to cater to them, as we all do. I am an instructor to show her how important fitness and community with one another truly is. I want to teach her that fitness isn’t about having the best body in the room, it’s about being healthy in body, mind, and soul.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

Some of you know this, but I am a volunteer Firefighter and EMT for the RVFD station 3. I’ve been volunteering for close to a year an a half now and it has been another integral part in me helping to “find myself again” after having my daughter. It’s such an adrenaline rush and a great feeling when you can give part of yourself to help others. Also, who doesn’t want to ride a fire truck? It’s just fun!

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

That each and every one of you (new and veteran mamas) make my day every time I teach. Seeing you push yourself, seeing your children watch what you do in every class and mimic your moves, and spending time getting to know you amazing moms is the best. Thank you all for being so awesome!

Thank you, Lyndsey, for being our spotlight this month! Check back next month to learn more about another member of our #dreamteam here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County!
