April 2021 -MOM Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for April! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Sidra Jeffries!

I have absolutely loved getting to know Sidra during virtual workouts, both while instructing and while working out in the Zoom box beside her. She is so dedicated to her health and committed to movement. She doesn't just keep showing up... she shows WAY up and ready to put in the extra work. I often find myself drawing energy from her during workouts and transporting myself to her scenic Zoom backgrounds during cool down and mediation. Keep on crushing it, Sidra! ~ Instructor Marie

I absolutely love having Sidra in run club! She is one strong running mama! Her running journey is so inspiring. Go Sidra! You are going to crush your first 10k race!! ~ Instructor Jenny

I love seeing Sidra (and her awesome virtual backgrounds) in class and can’t wait to get to know her better in-person! She is so dedicated to her wellness and always shows up with a smile. She is also an amazing motivator. We may or may not have motivated each other to attend early morning classes by planning to wear matching outfits... ~Instructor Jessie

Sidra brings a great positive energy to the in-person classes. It is easy to tell she enjoys working hard and that she also loves being an active member of the village. She is very thoughtful and kind! I love spending time each week with her, Clara and Isaac! ~Instructor Alice

We asked Sidra a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My husband Rudy, and my two kids Clara (5) and Isaac (2).

What is/was your career?

I am a content strategist for the government.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

I went to a trial class when my daughter was born but I didn’t start going regularly until I signed up for Bodyback after Isaac was born. And I really leaned into this community once the pandemic hit, it has been a lifesaver.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

I do downtown Silver Spring and Rio in person, as well as Tuesday evening, Wednesday and Friday mornings virtual, and then more when I can fit it in. I also do run club.

What is your favorite FIT4MOM exercise?

I love any kind of squat.

What has being a mom taught you?

To try and be kind to myself and give myself grace. This past year especially has been tough and I have had to remind myself that my best is more than good enough.

List 3 of your favorite things.

Chocolate, polka dots, and sunflowers

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

I don’t have a particular moment, but I am constantly surprised at the variety of things I have to tell my kids not to eat. Lotion is not food!

Any advice for other moms out there?

Hang in there! Motherhood is hard and fun and frustrating and wonderful, often all in the same day.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommocofrederick class?

Come and join us! The workouts are hard and fun, and the supportive community is even better.
