December 2017 MOM-Motivating Mom of The Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for December! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Marlene Campbell!

I remember Marlene’s very first class like it was yesterday (it wasn’t!)...and she’s been coming regularly ever since! We were recently talking about having multiple little ones at home (and the chaos that can ensue as a result), and her attitude about motherhood + coming to class as part of her daily routine is just SO refreshing. She works hard in class every morning, she’s an amazing mama to those two girls, and she’s fun to chat with too! ~ Instructor Heather

Marlene is one of those mamas. She comes almost everyday, works incredibly hard and stays + plays with her girls after class. Marlene and Natalie came to Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre throughout her entire pregnancy then came back right at 6 weeks postpartum! Her husband Scott also comes with her almost every Saturday! Her positivity is contagious, and she is a friend to everyone. Marlene makes teaching fun! ~ Instructor Maya

We asked Marlene a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Scott and our daughters Natalie (2) and Emily (3 months).

2. What is/was your career?

I was the Executive Assistant to a Battalion Commander at Fort Belvoir in my past life. Now I’m working part-time from home as a web consultant. My largest client (my amazing aunt!) sells baby clothes on Amazon and I do her packaging/shipping as well. I’m very grateful for it because I can work when the girls are sleeping and enjoy my time with them as much as possible.

3. When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

It was June 2016 and I’ll never forget it. My sister-in- law invited me and I said yes although I’d never heard of Stroller Strides before. I envisioned a bunch of moms drinking coffee and taking a nice leisurely stroll. I almost died (in a good way!) and have been hooked ever since.

4. Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?

I’m loving Rio 4x a week for Strides and Kentlands for Barre. Days with a newborn are so much smoother when we attend class, so my goal is to go every day.

5. What is your favorite strides exercise?

I love everything upper body. Bicep curls and rows are my favorite.

6. What has being a mom taught you?

It’s taught me everything about patience and unconditional love. It’s shown me all the behind-the-scene sacrifices my parents made for me and made me appreciate them that much more.

7. List 3 of your favorite things.

Target, coffee, family.

8. Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Most recently I have been preparing Nat for potty training by telling her everyone uses the potty. We were checking out at Target and she saw the restrooms. She started screaming as loud as possible “Mommy has to go poo-poo!”.

9. Any advice for other moms out there?

Enjoy each moment because babies really do grow too fast. Also, preparing dinner at nap time is a game changer.

10. What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first Fit4Mom MoCo class?

It’s honestly the best thing I’ve done for myself and my kids. The days I attend class I’m a better mom and wife. I wish I started sooner!

Thank you, Marlene, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in January!
