July 2019-MOM- Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for July! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Yuki Miyoda!

Yuki is so much fun to have in class. She is always smiling, yet pushes herself HARD! Yuki and her sweet girl will be sorely missed when they head back to Japan! ~ Instructor Jessie G.

I’ve loved having Yuki in class and getting to know her! She is kind, warm and a great mama. She is a hard worker and isn’t afraid to put Rina in a carrier and keep crushing her workout with some extra weight- something that inspires other moms to do the same if their kiddo is having a tough day. I’ll miss her positive attitude and smile when she moves - I am so happy she became a part of our village! ~ Instructor Kelci

We asked Yuki a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

Myself, my daughter Rina (10 months old), and my husband.

What is/was your career?

I'm a Ph.D. student in international relations. I used to work at a Japanese bank and also at an UN-backed organization, the Principles for Responsible Investment.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was last October with Kelci, and Rina was eight weeks old. My mother was visiting to help me out, so I asked my mother to take care of Rina during the class and see whether it works out. It worked out perfectly! I really needed to get out of the house and meet people, and so I was so grateful to be able to find the right place.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

I try to go Chevy Chase every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I love resistance bands. My arms are fitter and stronger than before.

What has being a mom taught you?

So many things: I am more responsible, punctual and organized than before. I am more grateful to my mom than ever before.

List 3 of your favorite things.

1. Reading

2. Taking a bath

3. Yoga

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

I don't have a good one yet but I have a story. We have a close family friend and they just had a baby boy. So I said Rina and the boy can go for "a play date," and one day they might start actual dating. I thought that was cute, but my husband was not happy about it. He said "He (the baby boy) should beat me first before he goes out with Rina!" (My husband is a black belt in Karate and his high school Karate team won national championship in Japan lol) Don't worry Rina, mama is going to tell your BF your daddy's weak point.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Different people say different things about parenting. I realized the variety of answers that I get when I ask friends and my family about babies. I think it is depends on the child and parent. So don't get too stressed out. Take a deep breaths. Relax. Your heart is stronger than you think.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

Just do it!!! You feel so good after you make the most of it!

Thank you, Yuki for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in August!
