November 2022 MOM - Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for November! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Allison Gravino!

Allison is one strong mama! Whether baby wearing while doing lunges or sprinting during freedom runs, she is always challenging herself. She’s such a great role model for her two boys and such a great friend to all the mamas. I’m so glad she is a part of our village! ~ Instructor Meegan

Allison sets such a great example for her boys and the other mamas in class! No matter the weather, she is there with a smile on her face, ready to move... Even when it was a wind chill of 10 degrees last winter! So glad she is part of this village of ours! ~ Instructor Mandy

We asked Allison a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My household is myself, my husband Darren of 10 years, and our two sons, Colton (4) and Adrian (15 months). Our family also consists of four dogs, Oliver, Spencer, Riley, and Becky and four cats named Nora, Sammy, Tom, and Tabitha. We also have 6 horses named Emma, Athena, Kay, Ruppert, Flit, and Bugs the Bunny. Can you guess who the toddler named?

What is your hometown, and where do you live now?

I am from Rockville, MD and live in Thurmont, MD now.

What is/was your career?

I am an accountant and I was a professional rider/ trainer/ barn manager.

What is the furthest place you've been from home?

The furthest place I have been from home was on a "vacation" taking my nearly blind 90 year old great aunt for a last tour of Ireland and Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. I have had more fun going to the dentist, but the scenery was better.

What is your favorite thing to do as a family?

Our favorite thing to do as a family is to be outside. We love to ride our horses, be outside with our animals, go down to the river and throw rocks. And also randomly- auctions. Coincidentally we both love going and some of our best dates were bidding on junk.

Favorite thing to watch on TV?

We do not really watch TV, but on the rare occasion it is on Colton and I like to watch vet shows.

Your favorite song or artist?

I cannot think of anything that is a favorite.

List 3 of your favorite things or places.

My three favorite things I would say are horses, books, and any water feature outside.

Your proudest moment.

I don't really have one single proudest moment, but some of my favorite memories are winning or doing really well in some of the big International horse shows.

Any advice for other moms out there?

My only advice would be to not take all the small stuff seriously.

When was your first class with FIT4MOM, and what made you go?

My first class was in January or February of 2019. So my son was just 6 months old or so. I had seen the booth at The Birth and Babies Fair and had it sitting in the back of my mind for a few months. I remember my first class was in the mall at FSK and it was so nice meeting so many other moms with kids the same age that also were wondering what to do with their day. Fit4Mom became the key to keeping my body active while engaging my son, because I could not figure out how to do that at home on my own.

What is your favorite F4M MOCO + FREDERICK class?

My favorite class is Stroller Strides.

Favorite exercise?

I like side and back lunges.

How has FIT4MOM changed your life?

Fit4Mom has given me somewhere to go everyday that involves my children in a fun and unique workout. It allowed me to no longer feel isolated in my house with a new tiny stranger.

What is your favorite thing about F4M MOCO + FREDERICK?

My favorite thing is the play groups. I really like sitting and doing the activity with my kids after the workout. The playgroups have also given me so many items to use as holiday decorations around my house.

November Bonus Questions:

My favorite Thanksgiving food: is turkey. We raise our own so they just taste better.

Turkey Chase or football: Neither. We do a lot of cooking and then spend most of the day out in the barn.

This year I am most thankful for: The winter classes being held inside in the mall.
