October 2017 MOM-Motivating Mom Of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Jessica Hillenbrand!

I vividly remember one of the first times Jessica came to class. She came with a sense of calmness and worked hard from the start. Over the last year and a half I have been lucky enough to see Jessica tackle motherhood and fitness with a great sense of humor and perspective. She is a fun and supportive mom in our village!~ Instructor Katie

Jessica is a strong, amazing momma! She pushes herself during workouts and to accomplish goals. She crushed her 5k with run club last year! She is also hilarious, and her dry wit makes every work-out with her a blast. Chase is unbelievably lucky to have her as his mom!~ Instructor Andie

We asked Jessica a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

1. Who are the members of your family?

Our family consists of myself, my husband Stuart, our son Chase, and our two Jack Russell Terriers - Parker and Murphy.

2. What is/was your career?

Before becoming a stay at home mom, I was a Community Services Manager at a retirement community in Rockville (fancy title for the lady who keeps all of the old folks happy).

3. When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was in May 2016 - I remember that it was raining, HARD.

4. Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?

You can find me at either Clarksburg location and at the Kentlands for Barre once a week! I try to aim for four days a week.

5. What is your favorite strides exercise?

Squats. I used to have an amazing butt, but I lost it when I got pregnant. It’s slowly making its appearance known again.

6. What has being a mom taught you?

To pick your battles. This is true in marriage as well, but it’s DEFINITELY true when you have a two year old tyrant.

7. List 3 of your favorite things.

Does wine count for all three? But seriously - wine, silence, and pizza.

8. Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

The first time my milk came in was while I was at Buy Buy Baby. It was like a fountain. My dress was soaked; it was dripping down the front of me. I was mortified at the time, but now it’s kind of hilarious.

9. Any advice for other moms out there?

Learn to accept help when you need it.

10. What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first Fit4Mom MoCo class?

DO IT. I was hesitant for SO LONG and now, looking back, I regret not starting sooner. Being on maternity leave or being a SAHM is so isolating. You need these people, and chances are, they need you too.

Thank you, Jessica, for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
