October 2019 MOM-Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Grace Consacro!

Grace is strong , determined , sweet and kind woman . It is a true pleasure to have her in my early morning classes. She has come so far since the first class she attended . She is regular in her workout routine, very supportive and works very hard toward her goals. She never gives up and with the smile on her face pushes through challenging classes. She is an amazing role model to her daughters and an inspiration to all of us . Her happiness shines and is up-lifting. Grace, thank you for trusting me and letting me guide you through another body back transformation session ❤️ ~ Instructor Ewa

Grace jumped in with both feet on day 1. She always comes ready to work hard and gives her all for the entire class. She is brave, kind and friendly! I love seeing her in classes! ~ Instructor Katie D.

We asked Grace a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My husband, Steve and our 4 children: twin girls Lola and Ella, (14) Max, (12) and Violet (4)

What is/was your career?

I am a special education teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools in the deaf/hard of hearing program.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

In March of 2018, I was dealing with some health issues, I had gained quite a bit of weight with my last pregnancy and was struggling with losing it, and overall was just feeling very “blah.” I saw an ad for a Fit4Mom class that was starting in Olney that April on my Facebook feed. I’d been thinking about joining the gym but that seemed very intimidating and out of reach. Something about being in a small group of fellow moms seemed very reassuring and potentially doable. I tried out that first class, and signed up then and there. The first class I really remember is the first class I took at the Rio, where we had to go for a run and I could barely make it. Katie very kindly told me to just go across the bridge and back and even that was a stretch for me. I remember thinking “someday I’ll be able to run around and keep up with these other ladies.” Today I am glad to say I’m in a much better place than I was a year ago, thanks in large part to Fit4Mom.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

I’m at either the 5:30 a.m. Body Back classes with Ewa or in the Olney evening classes with Katie, and occasional Strides 360 classes to mix it up.

What is your favorite strides exercise?

I love core exercises, like planks and ab work. I’ve come to realize how important a strong core is to your overall health, and on the plus side, usually you get to sit down for a minute and catch your breath during the core minutes!

What has being a mom taught you?

Flexibility, patience, and humility. One minute you may think you have it all figured out, then your children have a way of quickly cutting you down to size!

List 3 of your favorite things.

Coffee, books, and snuggling with my family to watch baking competition shows on TV.

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Most of my embarrassing mom moments revolve around being very sleep deprived when the twins were babies. Anytime I had to get them out by myself it seemed like we were always late and disorganized and I would spend so much time getting them dressed in cute coordinating outfits and then totally forget about myself. Most of the time I would catch it before I left, but on at least one occasion I got to an appointment to realize I was still in my pj’s, and not cute ones either.

Any advice for other moms out there?

Find time for you. You can’t be a resource for others if your own “well” is dry. Fill it up with things that support and sustain you—my Body Back sessions are my “me times” throughout the week.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

Don’t hesitate! You will love it. I can truly attest that Body Back has been a life changing experience.

Thank you, Grace for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
