October 2020 MOM - Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM Montgomery County Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Lauren Wertheimer!

Lauren is such a motivating, dedicated and strong mama! She was already doing #alloftheclasses before covid, but once we went virtual she didn't skip a beat and dove straight into the virtual platform. She consistently attended virtual classes (I loved seeing her name pop up during my classes), posted her sweaty selfies and completed in all of the virtual challenges that we had over the summer. It has been so much fun working out with her virtually and seeing her in person at the body well reunion classes! ~ Instructor Adrienne

Lauren is such a dedicated member of Fit4Mom Moco. After the pandemic hit, she was so quick to adjust to virtual classes and I was always so excited to see her name pop up and her encouraging comments and sweaty selfies. She always makes herself available to provide support and advice-including shopping advice-to members of Our Village. It is so great to now be able to see her in person (from a distance of course!) ~ Instructor Jessie G.

Lauren has been a consistent hard working mamma since day 1. I loved seeing her at Stroller Barre with Sloane and Ryan when they were younger, and now crushing it at Body Boost! She goes out of her way to help when needed and always brings great energy to the classes she attends. I am proud to call her a friend! ~ Instructor Maya

We asked Lauren a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My husband Adam, Sloane (5), Ryan (2) and our Samoyed Louie

What is/was your career?

I used to be a PT, but have been a stay at home mom since Ryan was born 2 years ago.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

My first class was a stroller strides class with Maya 2 years ago at Rio. She had great energy and I felt so motivated to get my body back in shape. It was great working out with other moms and I loved how social it was.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

These days you can find me at Rio/ Kentlands (Rio mostly since Covid) doing a Body Boost class or Strides 360 class. I try to go at least 4 x a week if I can. When I can't make it to class I try to get a virtual workout in.

What is your favorite strides exercise?

It's so hard to pick just one. I do love squats with incorporation of some upper body exercise.

What has being a mom taught you?

Being a mom has taught me so much. I am constantly learning and trying to teach my kids to be the best version of themselves. There are amazing days and there are hard days but I love both of my kids and wouldn't want my life any other way. Being a mom has also taught me patience, fearlessness, accepting the help of others, being a good role model, and that there is no such thing as perfect.

List 3 of your favorite things.

Traveling, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

I would say lifting Sloane out of her car seat to find a poop explosion all over the car seat when we just got to a restaurant only to find I forgot to restock the diapers.

Any advice for other moms out there?

I would say take it one day at a time. I would also say don't be afraid to ask family or friends for help or advice.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommoco class?

I would say to absolutely go for it! It's a great way to socialize and meet new mama's who you can relate to. I can truly say I have made an amazing group of friends through Fit4Mom and it's great having these women by my side. The instructors are absolutely amazing and are such great motivators. When I feel like I want to give up they give me that extra boost to push myself through the workout.

Thank you, Lauren for being such a valuable part of Our Village here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County! We truly appreciate you & the positive energy you bring to class and Our Village!

Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
