September 2021 MOM - Motivating Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for September! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local mamas at FIT4MOM Montgomery + Frederick Counties. We want to highlight her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor....Tara Cirks!

"Tara is one of the strongest moms I know ! She is truly committed and focused, she comes to classes ready to work hard and sweat with big smile on her face , even at 5:30 am. Emma and Molly have an amazing role model!" ~ Instructor Ewa

We asked Tara a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

Who are the members of your family?

My husband, Blake, me, Emma (7) & Molly (almost 3)

What is/was your career?

I used to be a kindergarten teacher but decided to stay home after having my first daughter.

When was your first class, and what do you remember about it?

June 2019, Adrienne’s Barre Class at Montgomery Mall. A good friend of mine and former member (Molly Grasso) convinced me and a few other military moms to try a free class with her. She had loved this community and knew we would as well. I loved the class (my kids did as well) and I signed up immediately afterwards and it became a regular part of our routine that summer.

Where can we find you? What is your FIT4MOM routine these days?

This past year I have grown to love the early morning workouts so you will find me at the early morning boost classes at the Rio on Monday, Friday, and Saturdays most weeks. I still try to catch a stroller barre class at times when our schedule allows.

What is your favorite exercise that you have done with FIT4MOM (in Strides, Barre, 360, Body Ignite or Body Boost)?

I love any workout with the mini bands!

What has being a mom taught you?

So many things but most of all PATIENCE!

List 3 of your favorite things.

The beach, Starbucks, and Chicago deep dish pizza

Give us a giggle- What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

When my youngest was still a baby and not sleeping well, we went to a birthday party and when I came home, I noticed my tank top had been inside out the entire time, clearly I was just that exhausted and didn’t notice. I’m not sure if no one else noticed or they just didn’t want to embarrass me haha!

Any advice for other moms out there?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and take some time for yourself. I know this is extremely difficult to do for us but it’s necessary to take some time for self-care.

What would you tell someone who is considering attending their first #fit4mommocofrederick class?

Just do it! This is such an amazing community of strong women who will make you feel included and offer support. You and your kids will make some great friends in the process. And the workouts are AMAZING!
