Team Spotlight - July 2019

You probably already know this, but we have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County. I thought it would be nice if you could get to know a little more about each one of them, and I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Jessie Gilbertsen!

I can't explain just how fortunate I am to work with a team of women who are so generous, energetic and supportive (like, really truly I am the luckiest). Jessie is the epitome of these qualities. From the moment I first met her, I just knew she was on the same page as me. She believes in what Fit4Mom stands for, she wants every mom to build relationships and confidence, and she's been willing to help our team work towards this ever since. From adding evening stroller classes to our schedule for us to covering additional classes (and playgroups!!) while balancing her family and career, to supporting our team members when needed....Jessie is such a valuable member of this team. Jessie, thank you for everything you do for this village, our team and for me. I appreciate you, and I'm so thankful to know you! xo ~Heather

Now read on, learn more about Jessie, and then go find her in a class!

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Eric, Grant (almost 9), Audrey (6), Owen (3)

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

I teach Stroller Barre on Friday mornings in Chevy Chase. I have also been teaching a Wednesday evening class twice a month in Chevy Chase.

3. Tell us your {entire} FIT4MOM story!

I was excited about Fit4Mom before I even had kids. My first close friend to have a baby lived in San Diego and told me all about this class called Stroller Strides that was offered throughout the country. When I had Grant we lived in Alexandria and I immediately joined the Alexandria/Arlington franchise. When we moved to Bethesda, one of the first things I did was look up Fit4Mom class locations...

4. What is your favorite thing to teach in class?

Squats! I love the burn. And anything with the core ball, the options are limitless.

5. What do you LOVE about being an instructor?

I love motivating mamas and watching them feel proud of themselves all while making new friends.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

I want my kids to grow up understanding the importance of fitness. I also want to help both new and seasoned mamas feel strong, empowered, and supported. Also, let's be honest, it's fun! Where else can you get an amazing workout, increase your confidence, and hang out with your friends?

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I am a brown belt in Taekwondo, I have traveled to some amazing and random places, I love reading books about dictators, and I am freakishly good at remembering birthdays. I guess those were 4 facts...

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Whether you are a longtime member or just have only attended class a few times, you are a member of Our Village. This Village is an amazing place full of non-judgmental women who all have a hand on your back. So if you are debating whether to attend that class or show up at that Mom's Night Out, do it! I am so grateful to this Village for all of the fun, encouragement, parenting advice, and now for welcoming me as an instructor!
