Team Spotlight - March 2018

We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at FIT4MOM Montgomery County, and I thought it would be nice if we could get to know a little more about each one of them. I'm excited to continue our spotlight this month with....Ginny Meyerhuber!

It is such a bittersweet month, spotlighting one of our team members who brought so many smiles to families around her in her playgroups and interactions. With this spotlight, we'd love to wish Ginny the very best as she takes off her playgroup captain hat and gets ready to move back to California next month.

Ginny, it's been an absolute pleasure having you and your beautiful girls here in our village. You've been a wonderful addition to our #dreamteam, and please know you always have a home here with us at #fit4mommoco! Please don't be a stranger! I'll miss you! xoxoxo

~Heather

1. Who are the members of your family?

The members of my family are me, my husband Dan, our daughters Meredith (5), and Charlotte (2.5).

2. Where can people find you? What is your role within FIT4MOMMOCO?

You can find me at Pike & Rose, Montgomery Mall, and sometimes Rio and Clarksburg! I was the playgroup captain at Pike and Rose.

3. Tell us your FIT4MOM story!

When my daughter Meredith was born, we lived in Oceanside, Ca, and I was struggling with living in a city without any friends. I wasn’t used to feeling that way, and during a conversation with my best friend in Japan she said, “You should look up Stroller Strides!” She had heard about it, and convinced me to look it up! I tried my first class when Meredith was 4 months old, and then really got into it when she was just over a year old and sleeping much better. Fast forward to 2018 (5 years later) and I’m here in Montgomery County with my family, and we’ve been on this wonderful F4Mom ride for almost 5 years. It’s bittersweet because I’ve made some wonderful friends through this experience, and learned a lot as a mom- of which the most important is to make time for myself each day.

4. What is your favorite thing to do with our families?

Aside from planning fun crafts, I love letting my children play with other kids. I love watching our children grow up together. I don’t know what I’d do without this aspect. Charlotte, my youngest, thinks of Stroller Strides as “her school” and often tells her sister that.

5. What is the BEST thing about being a PGC?

The best part of being a playgroup captain is planning fun crafts and activities in advance. I also love being a part of Heather’s “Dream Team” of wonderful women who aspire to make a difference.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

My family and my health are my why. I realize and now fully understand that health is a lifelong journey and Fit4Mom started me on that journey. My husband and I have made some lifestyle changes that have kept us healthy these past few years, and it is my hope that my children grow up to love being physically active as well.

7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

This year, I plan to return to school for a second masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner! After being out of my profession of nursing for so long, and Meredith’s entrance into kindergarten this Fall, I’ve decided to pursue this as my next professional goal.

8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Thank you to Heather, the wonderful instructors and friends that I’ve made during my three years here in Maryland. We will be moving back to San Diego in just a few months, and I will cherish these memories and hold Fit4Mom in my heart forever. It truly brought me out of the dark shadows of postpartum depression, and I wouldn’t be near the whole mom I am today without it.

Thank you, Ginny, for everything!

Be sure to check back next month to learn more about another one of our {amazing} team members!
